Projects

Here is what were are currently working on

Ski Land, Fairbanks

Priority 1, Chairlift, $100k: We are to upgrade our chairlift with a new control panel and electric motor. This upgrade will improve reliability, safety, and efficiency. It will also make sure the lift continues to spin well into the future.

Priority 2, Grooming, $300k: Our current snowcat is aging and becoming harder and harder to find parts for. We are looking into purchasing at least one new snowcat to improve our grooming. A new snowcat will improve efficiency, quality, reliability, and burn less fuel. A well groomed run last longer at the tail end of the season and is safer for all levels of skiers. It also allows the Fairbanks Aline Ski Club to hold race events at the mountain. The Fairbanks Ski Patrol use well groomed paths to safely get injured skiers and boarders back to the top to evaluate their injuries.

Priority 3, Rentals, $100k: Our rental fleet is now over 10 years old. Every season we go through and test the bindings to make sure they are still safe to use. Any that do not pass are retired. Our current fleet has gotten too small for the growing population and we frequently run out of rentals. We are looking at purchasing a new rental fleet to have more skis and boards available. New skis and boards are also use new design technology giving a better experience. Rentals are a great way for beginners to learn without having to purchase new equipment for themselves yet. Children tend to outgrow their gear quickly and rentals provide an affordable alternative for parents to keep their kids on the snow without having to buy new gear every season. through donations, sponsors, and grants, we hope to help cover the cost of a new rental fleet so we can continue to keep our rental prices as low as possible.

Priority 4, Infrastructure, $6m: Our lodges are aging and not quite adequate for the amount of skiers and boarders who come visit us each season. We are looking to construct a new lodge that will house all services on the mountain under one roof. This will allow enough room for everyone while have purpose built areas for services such as rentals, ski patrol, ski team, staff, and food services. A new building will also be more efficient to heat and can be constructed with the newest building techniques to ensure it has a low carbon footprint and will last long into the future.

Other Future Projects: In the future we would like to construct more lifts and trails at Ski Land to increase our skiable acreage so there is more for everyone to enjoy. We would like to do this while maintaining our current pricing so it is still affordable for everyone to enjoy the sport.
